It may be hard for your child to know and understand the difficult situation that you are in as a single parent. You have a lot of obligations that you must meet on a day-to-day basis, yet you also want to create and keep that close, special bond with your kids. Try some of these to strengthen your family relationship:

Establish Family Time

The tried and true way to build the relationship within your family is to put aside some family time. This can be anything from taking the time to sit down and have dinner together to having  a special outing. It’s important to talk and laugh, as you’ll build memories to hold dear.

Join Them

Do what your children want to do sometimes. If they ever ask you to participate in their activities, like playing with toys or sports, happily do it. It’s a great opportunity for bonding and you’ll also get a peek into their minds and interests.

Break the Cycle

Some of the best memories happen when you least expect them. For this reason, take the time to break from the normal patterns of your life. Take a sick day along with a school holiday, and take your kids on a tour of the town; do something that they’ll remember.

Whenever you have the opportunity, take some time to have a one-on-one session with your children. This can be sometime during the day, when you can pull them aside and talk for a while, or even at night, right before bed, where you could read them a story and talk about your day together.

Make a Secret Handshake

Kids love to keep secrets, as it’s fun and exciting. They keep them with their peers and siblings, and if you get in on the action, you can be as close with your child as they are. Make up a secret handshake, for example, and you two will share something special that they’ll love to practice and show off whenever they can.
The bond between a parent and a child is one that can be strengthened early and held forever. If you take advantage of these suggestions, you might find yourself forming a lifelong bond with your children. So, go out there and have some quality time with your family.
