Thanksgiving is right around the corner and everyone is beginning to think about what they’re grateful for. What goes on the list varies for everyone, depending on each of their circumstances, but we all have at least a few things to be thankful for, regardless of our situation. That means there are even things to be thankful for as a single parent. If, in the midst of fatigue and hard times, you can’t think of anything you can possibly be thankful for, here’s some ideas:
  • You have the strength, patience, and resilience required to be a single parent.
  • You have the love of your child(ren).
  • You are able to make decisions on your own.
  • You don’t have to compromise or negotiate the values you want to teach your child.
  • You are more independent than your peers.
  • “Me time” is actually me time.
  • You have a deeper relationship with your child(ren).
  • Your family and friends.
This is only 8 out of an infinite number of things you could be grateful for. Take the time to really give some thought to what you are thankful for. Not only will it remind you of everything that’s going right in your life, it will recharge you and give you the strength to keep going.
